The holiday season has arrived here in Europe. Despite that you will see below the huge amount of work that continues over the summer. Like everyone else, I will take some holiday but there will always be someone available to handle you enquiries. The contact details are set out below.

TETRA Association Board
The TETRA Association Board met earlier this month for their third meeting of the year. As well as reviewing the ongoing activities and accounts of the Association, there was much discussion of the future evolution of TETRA to meet broadband requirements and the need for spectrum.~
The minutes of Board meetings are available on the website once they have been approved by the Board.
Marketing Group
The Marketing Group was very active in the redesign of the website www.tetra-association.com and in the migration and reordering of the existing data.
The group also compiled and printed the Pocket Guide to TETRA booklet, which was available for TWC 2011, and is on the website as a page-turn pdf. The guide has been produced in English, and is also being currently translated into Spanish and Portuguese. Chinese and German versions to follow. The English version is available in hard copy from admin@tetra-association.com.
They have also contributed to and produced a special feature on transportation in Eurotransport magazine June 2011. They actively support TETRA Today.
The Membership brochure is currently being updated, and new graphics are being produced for use on the Association exhibition stands. Both the brochure and the graphics will follow the brand style of the new website.
PRM
Board Member Francesco Pasquali and I met ISCOM for our regular performance review meeting. Notes of the meeting are distributed to all manufacturers that participate in IOP testing and certification.
Operators meeting
The Chairman organised a meeting of the European TETRA and TERAPOL Operators at their request. The meeting focussed on broadband, available technologies and related spectrum issues. Currently European based it will have global relevance. Several Board members and I also attended. The meeting was invaluable in the work the Association is doing in these areas.
TIG
Board Member Roger Dowling and I continue to participate in this group which is partly funded by the Association. For all the latest information on TETRA and health visit http://www.tetrahealth.info/.
Website and email services
The TETRA Association has a new website which went live on Wednesday 29th June 2011.
The address www.tetra-association.com remains the same. However the user names and passwords needed to access the Members’ area have been changed. These should have been sent to you separately. You will need to change those of any sub-members you may have if you also wish to give them access.
During the move the Association has tried to make the new website more user friendly whilst at the same time retaining some of the better features from the existing website. It has also tried to ensure that the huge amount of data held has been migrated to the new site and is easily available. In doing so there will be some errors ! Very few I hope. Please advise Jay and her team at admin@tetra-association.com so they can be corrected.
Interoperability Testing and Certification tender
The negotiations with one of the shortlisted organisations are ongoing. I am sorry that I am unable to publish any further details at this time.
TETRA Association Events
The Association will resume its series of TETRA Association congress and other events at the beginning of September 2011.
First in the schedule are the one day Congress events taking place:
In Brasila, Brazil on the 1st September
In Mexico City, Mexico on the 6th September
In Fort Worth, Texas, USA on the 8th September
Members can participate in these events by exhibiting, sponsoring, presenting and attending.
For these events to be a success for TETRA it is important that we all work together to attract delegates. Whether or not you can participate yourself, a poorly attended event would send out totally the wrong message.

The TETRA Association will be collaborating with Infor Media Russia again this year in the PMR Forum Moscow on the 6th and 7th October 2011.
Also on the website there is a brief outline of the event for your information. I am hoping that Members will consider participating.
I am looking to include a number of relevant TETRA case studies in the programme. Any Member who is able to offer such a case study either presented by an end user, by themselves or by a local partner should contact me as soon as possible phil.kidner@tetra-association.com. The Forum will be conducted in Russian and English.

Also in China, the organisers of City Rail 2011 which will take place on the 18th to 20th October 2011 at the Intercontinental Pudong, Shanghai. And still in China ! Jolly Wong who acts as our Ambassador to China is Co-Chairman of the 3rd IET Communications Conference on Wireless, Mobile & Computing (CCWMC) 2011 which is happening between November 14th and 16th in Shanghai.

TWC 2012
The TETRA World Congress 2012 will be in the World Trade Centre, Dubai, UAE. It will take place at during the week of the 14th May 2012. Latest information is available at www.tetraworldcongress.com.
TWC 2013
We must fix the venue of TWC 2013 before the end of this year. All suggestions are always welcome. I will work with the Board to draw up a short list of candidate cities and then with IIR to identify the best venues from that list. The Board will make the final decision.
